79% Reduction on 692 Negative Events

Statistical Recap of May 2003 EFT Conference

At an EFT training conference in May 2003 before each demonstration, audiance participants were asked to focus on an event which caused emotional and/or physical distress that they wanted to resolve during the session. They were also to give the event a 'movie title', list the title and Subjective Unit of Distress (SUDs) level on an ongoing worksheet handout, and then focus on tapping on the same issue and in the same way as Gary Craig worked with the person on the stage. (This EFT procedure is called "Borrowing Benefits." details are posted on the EFT web-site.)

Following the session they were asked to rate the “after” SUDs level and list it on the worksheet. These worksheets were then collected at the end of the conference. Unfortunately because of either unclear instruction and/or people leaving early, only 98 forms were turned in. That represented 61% of the 160 attendees.

The raw data was complied and Dr. Jack Rowe Texas A & M psychology professor did statistical analysis of the results. The results were very noteworthy, even though the study was not perfect in design. The “scientific method” validity was somewhat lacking because:

In evaluating the results, the improvement in mean SUDS level were reduced 79% and median 82%! Remembering that each session lasted only approximately one hour, and the participants were not directly addressing the event that was causing their distress, the results appear to me to be remarkable.

The data showed:

98 participants with 692 events were recorded.
(Results were evaluated on a 0-10 intensity scale (SUDs)

Dr. Rowe is also complying a study utilizing Strategic Advantage Multi-Health System Self-Assessment “mood” test. Tests were administered pre-conference, at the end of the conference, 30 days after the conference, and the final test, a six-month follow-up test, went out November 12, 2003. The data has been complied and has been accepted for the peer-reviewed Counseling and Clinical Psychology Journal. You can view it at "Borrowing Benefits" EFT method Proven Effective!
