HypnoBirthing® -- The Mongan Method is becoming more and more recognized as an easy, comfortable way of giving birth.  Magazines, newspapers and TV and radio programs are contacting HypnoBirthing® educators around the world, asking to help get the word out.  HypnoBirthing® couples have been enthusiastic in relating their experience of a peaceful, gentle birth.

Vim and Vigor" Magazine Spring, 2002, "Cindy and Scott's Story" Cindy, a nurse at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital New Orleans, and her husband, Scott, used hypnosis for their birthing experience. They worked with Chaplain Paul Durbin, PhD, of Methodist Hospital. Although not a "pure" HypnoBirthing® story, Dr. Durbin recognizes Marie Mongan's HypnoBirthing® program and its contribution to his approach. Special Delivery, Journal for the Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators (ALACE) , 2002, "What's Pain Got to do With it?"  In this wonderful article, Kim Wilder, a midwife and HypnoBirthing® Educator explores the possibility of "Painless Birth Without Drugs".  She explains why some women can experience a comfortable, even ecstatic and orgasmic, birth.  This is a "MUST READ" for any woman who wants to find alternatives to the medicalized form of birth, who wants to take charge of her pregnancy and birthing experience.  Kim has also writen a great book Mother's Intention: How Belief Shapes Birth.  You can read sample chapters at http://mail.chartermi.net/~mamamojo/MIpart1.htm.

Childbirth Instructor Magazine, July/Aug 1999, "A New Look at an Old Method"  The article is a good, easy to read, overview of the Marie Mongan Method of HypnoBirthing®.  It explains the program in more detail than the popular magazines and shows how it is closest to following the works of the late English obstetrician Grantly Dick-Read, MD, author of Childbirth Without Fear in 1944, and who is considered to be the "father of natural childbirth".
