Studies have shown that hypnosis is extremely effective and helpful for pregnant and birthing women.
How does Hypnosis help with childbirth?

Hypnosis is used to eliminate concerns, fears and limiting beliefs that might unconsciously interfere with the natural birthing process.   Fear leads to tension in the muscles, which in turn leads to pain.   By eliminating fear, pain is no longer a part of childbirth.

Visualizations are used to send quick, clear messages to the body, and the body then responds by performing its tasks (thinning, opening, expelling) easily and more efficiently.

Your mind can be taught to recognize and experience certain sensations (pressure, tightening, fullness) that the body is experiencing.   A pain-less birth is very possible when this is accomplished.

Your body and mind can be trained to become deeply and completely relaxed on command.   A relaxed body and mind allow the uterus to work more efficiently, without the resistance of tension abdominal and pelvic muscles.

The hypnotic state allows you to be deeply connected with your birthing body and the birthing process.   Total focus allows you to be able to deal with any turn your birthing may take.   You are not detached from the birthing but are totally immersed in it.   You are in total control of your body and are an active participant in your birthing experience.

Hypnosis allows you to create a “dress rehearsal” for your ideal birth.   When the unconscious mind has been walked through the successful completion of a great birth, it can look back at that birth as a true event.   Thus creating the feeling…..”been there, done that.”   It's always easier to do something the second time.

The self-hypnosis techniques give you a way to reduce, and even eliminate, stress.   Maternal stress has been shown to be detrimental to the unborn baby.   Babies of stressed moms have been shown to have behavioral problems, attention difficulties, and are prone to be violent as they grow.   Extreme stress will affect the brain development of the unborn baby.

Hypnosis has shown to be effective in turning breech and posterior (sunny-side up) babies, lowering blood pressure, helping correct a placenta previa, holding off pre-term birth, stop rapid blood loss, and much more.   It has proven to be a very useful tool in getting a pregnancy safely to its completion.
