Hypnosis has always been "good copy".  People are continually intrigued by what the media has to say about hypnosis.  We have collected many articles published in professional journals and main stream publications that we think you will find interesting.

*  "Using the Powers of Hypnosis to Heal the Body and Mind"  An International Herald Tribune article of November 2008. Hypnosis is the epitome of mind-body medicine and is "underutilized as a therapeutic tool."

*   "Hypnotism:  It's All in Your Mind" Once regarded as a cheap stage trick, hypnotism is proven to be a powerful medical treatment.  Read about some of the ways it can be used to improve your life.

*   "Hypnosis: Focusing Subconscious on Change"  In part 4 of WebMD's 4-part series on alternative medicine learn how hypnosis can help you cut back on medications, quit bad habits, and ease stress.

*  "In a Trance"  The therapeutic benefits of hypnosis are discussed in this article in Healing Lifestyles & Spas magazine online.  They also discuss HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method.

* "Altered States"  This areticle in Newsweek, September 2005 explains how hypnosis can help with problems from anxiety to pain; how it works, and what it does in the brain.

* "There's Entrancing News about Hypnosis"  Business Week Magazine in February, 2004 did a fairly good job of discussing hypnosis, but repeated some myths that need to be corrected. For instance, it is beyond my belief that a neuropsychiatrist could possibly believe that people are either born with the ability to be hypnotized or you're not. I think that view is rejected by 99% of hypnotherapists.   To correct the myths, I have made some comments in [brackets.]

* "The Truth and Hype About HypnosisThis very interesting article appeared in the July 2001 edition of Scientific American magazine. The trance session involving Scientific American staff members should alleviate any concerns a person might have about experiencing the wonderfully enjoyable sense of relaxation that occurs during a hypnotic trance.

We particularly enjoyed the quote found in the introduction to the staffers experience; “[at] Scientific American we pride ourselves on our skepticism toward pseudoscience and on our hard-nosed insistence on solid research.”   (As a note, because we are not doing scientific research when helping clients, we typically take much less time than the fifteen minutes the author took when inducing hypnosis with the Scientific American staffers experience. Why waste valuable time?   We have also emphasized some sections with bold type.)

* "The Power of Hypnosis"  I think you will find this article that appeared in the Jan-Feb 2001 edition of Psychology Today interesting, and that it will answer some of your questions about the power and effectiveness of hypnosis.   The techniques described are those of the author and those she has referenced.   Every hypnotherapist has his/her own preferred, and equally effective, methods to assist their clients in making the changes they desire, and deserve, to make.

* "Altered States: Hypnosis In Mainstream Medicine" The following article comes from the Wall Street Journal, October 2003. It was written with a decidedly allopathic medicine slant, but still conveys a lot of good information about how hypnosis can be useful in the field of medicine and healing.  I have interspersed my comments [shown in brackets] where I feel a comment or correction is needed.
